Chapter 1

1What was from the beginning, what we have heard, and have seen with our eyes, what we have gazed at, and our hands have handled, concerning the message of life. 2Now that message was revealed, and we saw it, and we testify and proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us. 3What we have seen and heard, we proclaim also to you, so that you might have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4Now we write these things to you, so that our joy may be complete.

5Now this is the message that we heard from him and proclaim to you. God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, but we are walking in the darkness, we are lying, and we do not behave in a genuine way. 7But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another. And the blood of his Son Jesus Christ is cleansing us from every sin. 8If we say that we don't have sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say taht we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his message is not in us.

Chapter 2

1My children, I am writing these things to you so that you might not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who is with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous one. 2And he is the means by which forgiveness of our sins is made possible, and not for ours ownly, but for the sins of the whole world. 3In this way we know that the have known him, if we keep his commandments. 4The one who says, "I know him," and does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5But whoever keeps his message, truly that is one in whom the love of God has been perfected. In this way we know that we are in him. 6The one who claims to remain in him ought to walk just as that one [Jesus] walked.

7Loved ones, I'm not writing a new command to you, but an old one that you ahve had from the beginning. The old command is the message which you heard. 8Again, I am writing a new command to you, which is true in him and in you, that the darkness is fleeing and the light is already shining. 9The one who claims to be in the light, and hates his brother, is really still in darkness. 10The one who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of sumbling in him. 11But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness, and he walks around in the darkness, and he doesn't know where he is going, because the darkness has made him blind.

12I write to you, children,
because your sins are forgiven because of his name.
13I write to you, parents,
because you have know the one who is from the beginning,
I write to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
14I wrote to you, children,
because you have known the Father.
I wrote to you, parents,
because you have known the one who is from the beginning.
I wrote to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and God's message remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

15Don't love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of hte Father is not in him. 16Because everything in the world, the craving of the flesh and the craving o fthe eyes and the arrogance of live, is not from the Father, but it is of the world. 17And the world is passing away, and its craving, but the one who does God's will remains forever.

18Children, it's the last hour, and just as you heard that an antichrist is coming, now many antichrists have come. On that basis you know that it is the last hour. 19They went out from among us, but they are not of us. For if they were of us, they would have stayed with us. But they went out to make it clear that the are not all of us. 20And you have the anointing from the holy one, and you know all things. 21I didn't write to you because you don't know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no liar is from the truth. 22Who is the real liar if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23Everyone who denies the Son doesn't have the Father either. The one who confesses the Son, also has the Father. 24But as for you, remain in that which you heard from the beginning. If you remain in that which you heard from the beginning, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is the promise that he made to us: Eternal life!

26I write these things to you about those who are deceiving you. 27And the anointing that you received from him remains in you, and you don'tneed anyone to teach you, but his anointing teaches you about all things, and it is true and it does not lie, and just as he taught you, remain in him.

28And now, children, remain in him, so that if he is revealed, we can have boldness and not be ashamed of him at his appearing.

29If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who behaves righteously has been born of him.

Chapter 3

1Look at the type of love the Father has given us, that we can be called children of God! And we are! Because of this the world doesn't know us, because it didn't know him. 2Loved ones, now we are children of god, and it has not yet been revealed what we will be. We know taht when he appears, we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. 3And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as that one is pure.

4Everyone who is committing sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5And you know that that one was revealed so he could take away sin, and there is no sin in him. 6Everyone who remains in him doesn't continue to sin. Everyone who is continuing to sin has neither seen him, nor does he know him. 7Children, don't let anyone deceive you. The one who acts righteously is righteous, just as that one is righteous. 8The one who continues to commit sin is of the devil, because the devil goes on sinning from the beginning. For this reason the Son of God was revealed: So that he could destroy the works of the devil. 9Everyone who has been born of God does not continue sinning, because his seen remains in him, and he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10In this way it is clear who are children of God and children of the devil. Everyone who does not behave righteously is not of God, along with the one who does not love his brother.

11For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 12Not as Cain, who was of the evil one, and kileld his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his deeds were evil, and those of his brother were righteous. 13Now don't be amazed, brothers, if the world hates you. 14You know that we have been moved over from death into life, because we love the brothers. The one who does not love remains in death. 15Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murder has eternal life remaining in him. 16In this we have come to know love, because that one [Jesus] gave his life for us, and we ought to give our lives for the brothers. 17Whoever has what is necessary for this earthly life, and sees his brother in need, and closes his sympathies away from him--how can the love of God remain in someone like that? 18Children, Let's not love just in talk or word, but in deed and in truth.

19Now in this way we know that we are of the truth, and we will convince our hearts before him. 20Because if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our hearts, and knows all things. 21Loved ones, if our heart does not condemn us, we have boldness before god. 22And whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and we do what is pleasing before him. 23And this is his command, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and we should love one another, just as he commanded us. 24And the one who keeps his commandments remains in (Christ) and (Christ) in him. Now in this we know that he remains in us, because he gave us of his Spirit.

Chapter 4

1Loved ones, don't believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2In this way you can know the spirit of God. Every spirit that confesses that Jesus has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard will come, and now is in the world already. 4You are from God, children, and you have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5They are of the world. Because of this they speak what comes from the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God. The one who knows God hears us. Whoever is not from God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of deceit.

7Loved ones, let us love one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9The love of God is made clear in this way among us, because God sent his only son into the world so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as a means of forgiveness for our sins. 11Love ones, if God loved us in this was, we also ought to love one another. 12Nobody has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us.

13In this we know taht we are remaining in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and we testify that the Father sent the son as savior of the world. 15God remains in whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, and he remains in God. 16You also have known and put your trust in the love which God has in us.

God is love, and the one who remains in love remains in God and God remains in him. 17In this way love is made perfect with us, so that we might have boldness in the day of judgment, because we are in this world in that same way as that one is. 18There is no fear in love, but perfect love throws fear out, because fear involves punishment, and the one who is fearul has not been made perfect in love. 19We love, because he loved us first. 20If anyone says "I love God," but hates his brother, he is a liar. For how can one who doesn't love his brother, whom he has seen, love God, whom he has not seen? 21And we have this commandment from him that the one who loves God should also love his brother.

Chapter 5

1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the one who gives birth, loves the one who is born of him. 2In this way we know that we love the children of God, whenever we love God and we keep his commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. 4Because everything that is born of God conquers the world, and this is the victory which conquers the world, our faith! 5Who is the one who conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

6This is the one who comes by water and blood, Jesus Christ. Not by water only, but by water and by blood. And the Spirit is the one who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth. 7Because there are three that give testimony, 8the Spirit, the water and the blood and these three are one. 9If we receive the testimony of people, God's testimony is greater, because this is God's testimony that he gave concerning his Son. 10The one who beliees in the Son of God has the testimony in him. The one who does not believe God makes him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony which God gave concerning his Son. 11And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal live, and this life is in hi Son. 12The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13I write these things to you, to those who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you might know that you have eternal life. 14And this is the boldness we have before him, that if we ask according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know taht we have the things that we asked from him.

16If anyone sees his brotehr committing a sing that is not a sin to death, he should ask, and God will give the brother life, that is to those who are sinning, but not to death. There is a sin that leads to death, and it's not about that sin I'm telling you to ask. 17Every unrighteous deed is sin, but there is a sin that does not lead to death.

18We know taht everyone who has been born of God doesn't continue to sin, but the one who has been born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. 19We know taht we are from God, but the whole world lies in evil. 20But we know that the the Son o fGod has come, and has given us understanding so that we might know the truth, and we are in the truth, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. 21Children, keep yourselves from idols.
