Chapter 1 1This is a revelation by Jesus Christ that God gave to him to show to his servants the things which must happen quickly. He communicated it to his servant John by his angel, 2who gave testimony to whatever he saw of God's message, and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3The one who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and those who keep the things taht are written are blessed, for the time is near.
4John, to the seven churches that are in Asia, "Grace to you and peace from the one who is and who was and who is comping and from the seven spirits that are before his throne 5and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
To the one who loved us and freed us from our sins by means of his blood, 6and made us a kingdom, priests to God and his father, to him be the glory and the power forever, Amen. 7Look! He's coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him and those also who pierced him, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of him! Yes, Amen!!! 8I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, the one who is and who was and who is coming, the all powerful.
9I, John, your brother and fellow participant in the tribulation and kingdom and patience in Jesus, was on the isle of Patmos because of the message of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day and I heard a loud voice, like a trumpet, behind me, 11 saying, "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamos, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.
12And I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me, and when I had turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands there was someone like a human being, dressed with a garment that reached the feet, and clothed around his loins with a golden girdle. 14Now his head and his hair were which like wool, white as snow, and his eyes were like a burning flame, 15 and his feet were like bronze that has been refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of lots of [running] water. 16And he had seven stars in his right hand and a two-edged sword extended out of his mouth and his face was like the sun when it shines in its strength.
17And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead, and he placed his right hand on me and said, "Don't be afraid!" I am the first and the last, 18and the one who is alive! But I became dead [died] and now I'm alive foreer and ever and I have the keys of death and the grave. 19Write what you saw, and those things that are now, and the things that will happen afterward. 20The mystery of the seven stars which you saw at my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the lampstands are the seven churches.
Chapter 2
Message to Ephesus 1To the angel of the church in Ephesus, Write:
These are the things that the one who holds the seven stars in his write hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands. 2I know your deeds and your toil and your patience, and that you can't stand those who are evil. You ahve also tested those who call themselves apostles, but are not, and you have discovered that they are liars. 3You also have patience, and you have put up with it because of my name and you haven't grown weary. 4But I do have this against you: You have lost your first love. 5Remember then where you have fallen from, and repent, and do the first deed. But if not, I will come quickly and remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent. 6But you have this: You hate the deed of the Nicolaitans, that I hate as well. 7Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches: To the one who overcomes I will grant the right to each of the tree of life, which is in God's paradise.
Message to Smyrna 8To the angel of the church in Smyrna, Write:
These are the things that the first and the last, who was dead and came back to life says. 9I know your troubles and your poverty (but you are actually rich), and the blasphemy of those who claim to be Jews but are actuallyl of the synagogue of Satan. 10Don't be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. Look! The devil is about to throw some of you into prison so that you may be tested, and you will have troubles for 10 days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. The one who overcomes will never be hurt by the second death.
Message to Pergamum 12To the angel of the church in Pergamum, write:
The one who has the sharp, two-edged sword says these things. 13I know where you live; it is where Satan's throne is, and you have held onto my name, and you did not deny my faith, even in the days of Antipas, my faithful martyr, who was killed among you--where Satan lives. 14But I have a few things against you. You have there some who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a trap before the children of Israel, to eath things offered to idols and to commit fornication. 15In the same way, you have those who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. 16So repent! But if not, I will come quickly and will make war with them using the sword that comes out of my mouth. 17Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. To the one who overcomes I will give the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone, and a new name inscribed on the stone, which nobody knows except for the one who receives it.
Message to Thyatira 18And to the angel of the church in Thyatira, write:
The son of God, whose eyes are a fiery flame, and his feet like bronze says these things. 19I know your works, love, faithfulness, service and patience. Your last works are greater than the first. 20But I have this against you. You allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetesss and teaches and deceives my servants to commit fornication and to eat things sacrificed to idols. 21And I gave her an opportunity to repent, but she did not repent of her fornication. 22Look! I'm throwing her into a bed, and those who commit adultery with her into great trouble, unless they repent of her works. 23And I will kill her children with a plague, and all the churches will know that I myself am the one who searches mind and heart, and I will give you each according to your works. 24But I tell you, the remnant of Thyatira, as many as do not hold this teaching, who have not know the depths of Satan as they say, "I will not put any other burden on you."'
25Only hold onto what you have until I come. 26And the one who overcomes and keeps my deeds until the end,
I will give him authority over the nations 27and he will tend them with an iron rod as clay pots are shattered 28Just as I received from my Father, I will also give him the morning star. 29Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
Chapter 3
Message to Sardis 1And to the angel of the church in Sardis, write:
These are the things that the one who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars says. "I know your works, that you have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead. 2Be watchful, and strengthen those things that remain, but which are about to die out, for I have not found your works perfect before my God. 3So remember how you have received and heard, and keep it and repent. So if you don't keep watch, I will come as a thief, and you will not have any idea what hour I'm coming upon you. 4But you do ahve a few names in Sardis which have not soiled their clothes, and they will walk with me in white, because they are worthy. 5The one who overcomes will thus be clothed in white, and I will certainly never whipe his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. 6Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches."
Message to Philadelphia 7And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia, write: The holy and genuine person says these things the one who has the key of David the one who opens and nobody can close and closes and nobody can open.
8"I know your works. Look! I have put before you an open door which nobody can close, because you ahve a little strength, yet you have kept my word, and you have not denied my name. 9Look! I'm giving those of the synagogue of Satan, those who call themselves Jews, but are not (they're liars)--look, I will make them come and worship before your feet, and they will know that I love you. 10Because you kept my command to endure, I also will keep you from the hour of testing taht is about to come on all the inhabited world, for the purpose of testing those that live on the earth. 11I am coming quickly! Hold onto what you have, so that nobody takes your crown. 12I will make the one who overcomes a pillar in the sanctuary of my God and he will never again go outside, and I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem that is coming down out of heaven from my God and also my new name. 13Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churhces."
Message to Laodicea 14And to the angel of the church in Laodicea, write: These are the things taht the Amen, the faithful and genuine witness, the beginning fo the creation of God says. 15"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. 16Thus, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am about to vomit you out of my mouth. 17Because you say, 'I am rich and enriched, and I don't need anything, and you don't know that you are wretched and pitiful an dpoor and blind and naked. 18I advise you to buy from me gold that has been tested in the fire, so you may be rich, and white garments so that you might be clothed, and the shame of your nakedness might not appear, and anoint your eyes with ointment so you might see. 19As for me, I rebuke and discipline those that I love. So be zealouos and repent! 20Look! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will have dinner with him and he with me. 21I will allow the one who overcomes to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and have sat down with my Father on his throne. 22Let the one who has ears hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches."
Chapter 4 1After these things I looked, and there was a door opened in heaven, and the first voice that I heard, the one that was like a trumpet, spoke to me and said, "Come up here, and I will show you things that much happen after these things." 2Immediately I was in the spirit, and there was a throne in heaven, and on the throne there was a person sitting. 3And the one who was sitting there was like the appearance of jasper stone and carnelian, and there was a rainbow around the throne that looked like emerald. 4And around the throne there were 24 thrones, and on those thrones were 24 elders sitting, dressed in white clothes, and on their heads were golden crowns. 5And there were lightning bolts and voices and peals of thunder coming out of the throne, and there were seven fiery lamps burning before the throne. These are the seven spirits of God. 6And in front of the throne was something like a sea made of glass, like crystal.
And in the midst of the throne and around it were four living creatures filled with eyes in front and behind. 7And the first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8And the four living creatures each had six wings, filled with eyes all around and inside, and they never rest day or night saying,
Holy, holy, holy Lord God the all-powerful
The one who was, and is, and will come. 9And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who is sitting on the through, to the one who lives forever and ever, 10The 24 elders fall before the one who sits on the throne and they worship the one who lives forever and ever and they throw their crowns before the throne, saying, 11You are worthy, Our Lord and our God, To receive glory and honor and power because you created everything and because of your will they exist and were created.
Chapter 5 1And I saw a book in the right hand of the one who was sitting on the throne. It had writing inside and outside, and it was sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a strong angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the book, and to break its seals?" 3And nobody in heaven or on earth, or under the earth was able to open the book or to look inside it. 4I cried a lot because nobody was found worth to open the book or to look inside it. 5Then on eof the elders said to me, "Stop crying! Look here! The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has won the right to open the book and to break its seven seals."
6And I a lamb standing among the four creatures around the throne and among the elders, looking as though it had been sacrificed. It had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God who are sent out into all the earth. 7And he came and took the book out of the right hand of the one who was sitting on the thrown. 8And when he took the book, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the lamb. Each one had a lyre, and bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9And they sang a new song, with these words:
You are worth to take the book and to open its seals
because you were sacrificed and you ransomed people to God by means of your blood from every tribe and tongue and people and nationality 10And you made them a kingdom for our God and priests, and they shall reign on the earth. 11And I looked, and I heard the sound of many angels around the throne and of the living creatures and of the elders, and there were tens of ten thousands and thousands of thousands of them. 12And they said in a loud voice,
Worthy is the sacrificed lamb to recieve Power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.
13And I heard every creature that was in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea and the creatures that are in them saying,
To the one who is sitting on the throne and to the lamb Blessing and honor and glory and strength into the ages of ages.
14And the four creatures were saying, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worship.
Chapter 6 1Now I looked when the lamb opened the first of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice that was like thunder, "Come!"
1st Seal 2And I looked, and there was a white horse, and the one who was sitting on him had a bow, and he was giving a crown, and he came for conquering and setting out to conquer.
2nd Seal 3And when he opened the second seal, I head the second living creature saying, "Come!" 4And another horse went out, and this one was red, and authority was given to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, so that people would kill one another, and he was given a very large sword.
3rd Seal 5And when he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" And I looked, and there was a black horse, and the one who sat on him had a balance in his hand. 6And I heard something that was like a voice in the middle of the four living creatures saying, "A measure of wheat for a denarius and three measures of barley for a denarius, yet do not hurt the oil and the wine."
4th Seal 7And when he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!" 8And I saw a pale horse, and the one who sat on him was named "Death" and Hades followed along with him, and authority was given to them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with the sword and with famine and with plague, and by means of the beasts of the earth.
5th Seal 9And when he opened the firth seal, I saw under the souls of those who had been killed because of the word of God and because of the testimony that they had. 10And they creid out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, Holy and true Lord, do you not avenge our blood from those who live on the earth?" 11And they were each given a white robe, and they were told to rest for a little while longer, until their fellow-slaves and their brethren were finished, those who were to be killed as they had been.
6th Seal 12And I looked when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, and the whole moon became like blood. 13And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts her late figs when shaken by a strong wind. 14And heaven was rolled back wike a scroll being unrolled, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. 15And the kings of the earth and the great people, and the commanders, and the rich and the strong and every slave and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains. 16And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us, and hide us from the face of the one who is sitting on the throne and from the fury of the lamb. 17"Because the great day of his fury has come, but who will be able to stand?"
Chapter 7 1 holding onto the four winds of the earth to keep the wind from flowing on the earth or on the sea or on any tree." 2Then I saw another angel coming down from the rising of the sun, who had the seal of the living God, and he cried out in a loud voice to the four angels who had the authority to hurt the earth and the sea. 3He said: "Don't hurt the earth or the sea or any of the trees until we have sealed the slaves of our God on their foreheads." 4And I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000, sealed from each of the tribes of the children of Israel. 5From the tribe of Judah, 12,000 were sealed From the tribe of Reuben, 12,000 From the tribe of Gad, 12,000 6From the tribe of Asher, 12,000 From the tribe of Naphtali, 12,000 From the tribe of Manasseh, 12,000 7From the tribe of Simeon, 12,000 From the tribe of Levi, 12,000 From the tribe of Issachar, 12,000 8From the tribe of Zebulon, 12,000 From the tribe of Joseph, 12,000 From the tribe of Benjamin, 12,000 were sealed.
9After these things I saw, and there was a great crowd that nobody could count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing before the throne and before the lamb, dressed in white robes and with palm branches in their hands, 10and they cried out with a loud voice, saying,
Salvation to our God, the one sitting on the throne and to the lamb! 11And all the angels and the elders and the four living creatures stood around the throne and fell on their faces before it and worshipped God, 12saying,
Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and gratitude and honor and power and strength to our God for ever and ever!
13And one of the elders answered and said to me, "These people who are dressed in white robes, who are they and where do they come from?" 14And I said to him, "My lord, you know!" And he said to me, "These are those who come through the great affliction and washed tehir robes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. 15Because of this they are before the throne of God And they worship him day and night in his sanctuary. And the one who sits on the throne will take up residence with them, 16They will not be hungry or thirsty any more neither will they be stricken by the sun, nor any scorching heat. 17Because the lamb who is in the midst of the throne will take care of them, and he will lead them to living fountains of water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."
Chapter 8
The Seventh Seal 1And when he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heave for about half an hour. 2And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and they were given seven trumpets.
3And another angle came and stood at the altar. He had a golden censer, and he was given lots of incense, so that he could offer it on the golden altar that is in front of the throne, with the prayers of all the saints. 4And the the incense smoke with the prayers of the saints went up out of the angel's hand before God. 5Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. There were peals of thunder, voices, lightning bolts and an earthquake.
The Trumpets 6And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
1st Trumpet 7And the first angel blew his trumpet, and there was hail and fire mixed with blood which ell to the earth, and a third of the earth was burned, and a third of the trees, and all the green grass.
2nd Trumpet 8And the second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a large mountain, burning with fire fell into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood, 9and a third of the creatures in the sea died, of those who were alive, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
3rd Trumpet 10And the third angel blew his trumpet, and a large star fell from heaven, burning like a torch. It fell on a third of the rivers and on the water springs. 11And the star's name was Apsinthos (Wormwood/bitter). A third of the waters were turned bitter, and many people died because of the waters since they were made bitter.
4th Trumpet 12And the fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them, and of the day might not shine with light, and likewise the night.
5th Trumpet 13And I looked, and I heard a lone eagle flying in mid-heaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe! Woe! Woe! to those who live on the earth because of the rest of the trumpet-blasts of the three angels who are about to blow their trumpets."
Chapter 9
5th Trumpet 1And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star falling from heaven to the earth, and the star was given the keys of the pit (shaft) and the abyss. 2And he opened the shaft leading to the abyss, and smoke came up out of the shaft as from a large furnace, and the sun and the air were made dark by the smoke coming up out of the shaft. 3And locusts came out of the smoke into the land, and they were given authority like the authority of scorpions over the earth. 4But they were told not to harm the grass of the land, neither any herb or tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5But they were not given authority to kill them, but rather to torment them for five months, and their torment is like the torment of scorpions when they sting people. 6And in those days people will seek death, and they will not find it, and they will want to die very badly, but death will run away from them.
7And the locusts look like horses prepared for ward, and they have crowns on their heads the look like gold, and their faces are like human faces. 8And their hair is like women's hair, and their teach are like a lion's teeth, 9And they have breastplanes that look like iron, and the sound of their wings is like the sound of many chariots with horses running to war. 10And they have tails like those of scorpions and stingers, and en their tails is the authority to hurt people for five months. 11Over them they have the the angel of the Abyss as king, whose name in Hebrew is Abbadon, and in Greek his name is Apollyon (Destroyer).
12The first woe has passed. Look! There are two more woes to come after this!
6th Trumpet 13And the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard one voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14Saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates." 15And the four angels were released. They were prepared for the hour and day and month and year, so they could kill a third of population. 16And the number of their cavalry is countless (literally 20,000 X 10,000). I heard their number. 17And this is the way I saw the the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them. They had breastplates that were fiery, blue, and sulphurous yellow, and the horses' heads were like those of lions, and fire came out of their mouths, along with smoke and sulphur. 18As a result of these three plagues, one third of the people died, from the fire, smoke and sulphur that came out of their mouths. 19For the horses' authority was in their mouths, and in their tails, for their tails are like those of serpents, and they have heads and can hurt people with them.
20And the remainder of the people who did not die in these plagues still did not repent of the deeds of their hands, so they might worship demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood, things that can't see, hear or walk around. 21But they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorcery, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Chapter 10 1Then I saw another strong angel descending from heaven, dressed in a cloud. There was a rainbow over his head, his face was shining like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire. 2And he had a little book opened in his hand, and he put his right foot on the sea, and the left one on the land. 3And he shouted with a loud voice, such as when a lion roars, and when he shouted, the seven thunders spoke with their sounds. 4And when the seven thunders spoke, I began to write, but I heard a voice from heaven that said, "Seal up the things that the seven thunders spoke, and don't write them down." 5And the angel whom I had seen standing on the sea and on the land, Raised his right hand to heaven, 6And swore by the one who lives forever and ever, who created the heaven and the things in it and the earth and the things in it, and the sea and the things in it, "There will be no more delay! 7But in the days of the sound of the seventh angel, who is about to blow his trumpet, the mystery of God will also be completed, the good news he presented to his servants the prophets.
8And the voice I heard from heaven spoke to me again and told me, "Go, take the book that is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the earth." 9And I went to the angel and told him to give me the little book, and he said to me, "Take it and eat it. It will be bitter in your belly, but seet as honey in your mouth." 10And I took the little book from the hand of the angel and I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I ate it, my belly became bitter. 11And they said to me, "You must again prophesy to people and nations and languages, and many kings.
Chapter 11 1And I was given a measuring stick that was like a staff, and I was told, "Get up and measure the sanctuary of God and the altar, and those who are worshipping in it." 2But leave out the court of the sanctuary, and don't measure it, because it has been given to the nations (gentiles) and they will trample the holy city for 42 months. 3And I will give my two witnesses the authority to prophesy for 1260 days, dressed in sackcloth. 4These are the two olive branches and the two lamps that stand before the Lord of all the earth. 5But if anyone wants to hurt them, fire comes out of their mouth and devours their enemies, so if anyone wants to hurt them, this is the way that person must die. 6These have authority to seal up the heaves, so that it does not rain during the days they are prophesying, and they have authority over the waters, to turn them to blook and to strike the earth with whatever sort of plague the wish. 7And when their testimony is complete, the beast who is coming up out of the abyss will go to war with them, and will conquer them, and kill them. 8And their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, spiritually called Sodom and Egypt, the place where their Lord was crucified. 9And some of the peoples and tribes and languages and nationalities will see their bodies for three and a half days, and their bodies will not be permitted burial. 10And those who live on the earth will rejoice over them and will celebrate, and they will send each other gifts, because these two prophets tormented those who live on the earth. 11And after the three and a half days, the breath of life from God will enter them, and they will stand on their feet, and great fear will fall on those who see them. 12And they heard a loud voice from heaven tellin them, "Come up here!" And they went up into heaven in the cloud, and their enemies saw them. 13And in that hour there was a powerful earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and 7,000 people were killed in the earthquake, and the remainder became fearful and gave glory to the God of heaven.
14The second woe has passed. Look! The third woe is coming quickly!
7th Trumpet 15And the seventh angel blew his trumpe, and there were loud voices in heaven saying, The kingdom of the world is now the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, And he will rule them forever and ever. 16And the twenty-four elders who are seated before God fell on their faces and worshipped God, 17saying,
We thank you, Lord God all-powerful, The one who is and who was, Because you have received your great power, and you have started to reign. 18The nations became angry And your wrath came, And the time for the dead to be judged And to give account for your slaves the prophets The small and the great And for the corruption of those who corrupted the earth. 19And the sanctuary of God was opened in heaven, and I saw the ark of his covenant, and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and an earthquake, and large hail.
Chapter 12 1Now a great wonder appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and upon her head was a wreath of twelve stars, 2and she was pregnant, and she cried out with her labor pains and was in severe distress to give birth. 3And another sign appeared in heaven, a great red dragon who had seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads were seven diadems, 4and his tail drew along a third of the stars in the heavens, and he threw them down to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth so he could consume her child, 5and she gave birth to a boy, who is about to rule all the nations with a rod of iron. And her child was snatched away before God, and before his throne. 6And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared for her by God, so that she might be nourished there 1260 days.
7And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels were fighting against the dragon. And the dragon fought along with his angels, 8And there wasn't room for them in heaven any more.
9And the great dragon, that ancient snake, called the devil and Satan, who deceives the entire inhabited world, was thrown to the earth, and his angels were thrown out with him. 10And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, Now salvation and strength has come to pass, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. Because the accuser of our brethren has been cast down, The one who was accusing them before God day and night. 11But they conquered him by means of the blood of the lamb, and by means of the testimony they spoke, And they did not love their lives even up to death. 12Because of this rejoice, Heavens! and those who live there. Woe to the earth and the sea, Because the devil has come down to you, Having an incredible rage, knowing that he has only a little time.
13And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he pursued the woman who had borne the male child. 14But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly into the desert where he place was, where he would be nourished for a time, and times and half a time from before the face of the snake. 15And the snake spewed out of his mouth water like a river, so that he might cause her to be carried away by the water. 16But the earth helped the woman, and opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon spewed out of his mouth. 17And the dragon was angry with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, those who obey God's commands and give testimony about Jesus. 18And he stood on the sand of the sea.
Chapter 13 1And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems and on his heads were blasphemous names. 2And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like a bear's, and his mouth was like a lion's mouth. And the dragon gave him his power, and his throne, and his great authority. 3And one of his heads was in a state like it had been mortally wounded, but his deadly wound was healed. And All the world was marvelling after the beast. 4And they worshipped the dragon, because he gave authority to teh beast, and they worshipped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast, and who is able to go to war with him?" 5And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemy and he was given authority to act for 42 months. 6And he opened his mouth in blasphemy before God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle which are in heaven. 7And authority was given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them, and he was given authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. 8And all those who live on the earth worshipped him, that is, those whose names are not written in the book of life of the lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
9If anyone has ears, let him hear!
10If anyone is going into captivity, Let him go into captivity. If anyone is to be slain by the sword, Let him be slain by the sword. Here is the patience and faithfulness of the saints. 11And I saw another beast rising up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. 12And he exercises all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and he makes the earth and those who live in it worship the first beast, who had a mortal wound, but was healed. 13And he performs great signs, so that he makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth before men, 14and he deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs which he was given the pwoer to perform on behalf of the beast, saying to those who live on the earth to make an image to the beast which had the wound of a sword and yet lived. 15And power was granted to him to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might speak, and so that whoever didn't worship the image of the beast should be killed. 16And he makes everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave receive a mark on their right hand and on their forehead. 17And nobody is allowed to buy or sell except those who have the mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18Here is wisdom. Let the one who has understanding count the number of the beast, for it is the number of a human being, and his number is 666.
Chapter 14 1Then I looked, and there was a lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him were 144,000 who had the lamb's name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads. 2And I heard a voice out of heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like a great clap of thunder. The voice that I heard was like harpists playing their harps. 3And they sing a new song before the throne and the four living creatures and the elders, but nobody can learn the song except for the 144,000 who have been redeemed from the earth. 4These are the ones who have not been defiled by women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from among people, the first-fruit for God and the lamb. 5And in their mouth is found no lie, for they are without moral fault.
Message of the Three Angels 6And I saw another angel flying in mid-heaven, who had the eternal good news to proclaim to those who live on the earth, and to every nationality, tribe, language, and people. 7He said with a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because his judgment time has come, and worship the one who made heaven, earth, the sea, and the water sources."
2nd Angel 8Then I saw another angel following him, saying, "Babylon the great has fallen! She has fallen! She made all nations drink the wine of the wrath of her fornication."
3rd Angel 9And a third angel followed them saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10they will drink of the wine that is God's wrath, poured out undiluted in the cup of his anger, and they will be tormented with fire and brimstone before the holy angels and the lamb." 11And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever, and those who worship the beast and his image or receive the mark of his name have no rest 24 hours a day. 12Here is the patience of the saints, those who keep the commands of God and the faithfulness of Jesus.
13And I heard a voice out of heave saying, "Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die as servants of the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, so that they may rest from their toils. Their deeds follow after them. 14And I looked, and there was a white cloud, and someone like a human being was sitting on the cloud. He had a golden crown on his head and in his hand was a sharp sickle. 15And another angel went out of the sanctuary, shouting in a loud voice to the one sitting on the cloud, "Use your sickle and start harvesting, because it's now time to harvest, because the earth's harvest is ready. 16And the one sitting on the cloud used his sickle on the earth, and the earth was harvested.
17And another angel came out of the sanctuary that is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18And another angel came out of the altar, who had authority over fire, and he shouted with a loud voice to the one who had the sharp sickle, "Use your sharp sickle and gather the grapes of the vineyard of the earth, because the grapes are ripe. 19And the angel used his sickle on the earth, and he harvested the vineyard of the earth, and he threw the grapes into the winepress of the wrath of the Great God. 20And the winepress was trodden outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress up to the bridles of horses, 1,600 stadia (181 miles).
Chapter 15 1Then I saw another great and marvelous sign in heaven, seven angles who had the seven last plagues. In these plagues is the completion of God's wrath.
2And I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who had overcome the beast, his image, and the number of his name were standing on the sea of glass with divine harps. 3And they sang the song of Moses, God's slave, and the song of the lamb, saying, Your deeds are great and marvelous Lord, God, All-Powerful Your ways are righteous and true You are king of the nations. 4Who will not fear you, Lord? And give glory to your name? Because you alone are holy, Because all the nations will come And worship before you, And your righteous deeds will be made obvious.
5And after these things I looked, and the sanctuary, the tent of the testimony, was opened in heaven. 6And the seven angels who had the seven plagues went out of the temple dressed in pure, bright linen, with a golden belt around their waists. 7And one of the four living creatures gave seven golden vials to the seven angels. The vials are filled with the wrath of God who lives forever and ever. 8And the sanctuary was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and nobody could enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues carried by the seven angels were completed.
Chapter 16 1Then I heard a loud voice from the sanctuary saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven vials of the wrath of God on the earth!"
1st Plague 2And the first one went out and poured his vial on the earth, and foul and nasty sores came on the people who had the mark of the beast and who worshipped his image.
2nd Plague 3And the second one poured out his vial on the sea, and it became blood, as the blood of a dead person, and every creature that was alive in the sea died.
3rd Plague 4And the third one poured out his vial on the rivers and water sources, and they became blood. 5And I heard the angel of the waters saying, Your are righteous, You who are and were, You holy One! Because you made these judgments 6Because they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, And you have given them blood to drink. They deserve it! 7And I heard the altar saying, Yes, Lord God All-Powerful, Your judgments are true and just.
4th Plague 8And the fourth one poured out his vial on the sun, and it was given the power to scorch people with fire. 9And people were burned with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who had the authority over these plagues, but they did not repent and give him glory.
5th Plague 10And the fifth one poured out his vial on the throne of the beast and his kingdom became dark, and people gnawed their tongues because of the pain, 11and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pain, and because of their sores, but they did not repent of their deeds.
6th Plague 12And the sixth one poured out his vial on the great river, the Euphrates, and its water dried up, so that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. 13And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the beast, and the mouth of the false prophet. 14For they are the spirits of demons, performing miracles, which go forth on the kings of all the earth, to bring them together to the war of the great day of God the All-Powerful. 15Look! I am coming like a thief. Blessed are those who watch and guard their clothing, so that they do not walk around naked, and people see their shame. 16And he gathered them to the place that is called "Harmaggedon" in Hebrew. 17And the seventh one poured out his vial on the air, and a loud voice came out from the sanctuary, from the throne, saying, "It is done!" 18And there were flashes of lighting, and voices, and thunderclaps, and a great earthquake, such as no person has ever seen on the earth since there were people--it's so powerful! 19And the great city was divided intoo three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and Babylon the great was remembered before God, so God could give her the cup of the wine of his wrath. 20And every island fled, and the mountains couldn't be found. 21And great hail, of a talent in size (about 90 lbs) came down from heaven on the people, and they blasphemed God because of the plague of hail, because the plague was very great.
Chapter 17 1One of the seven angels who had the seven vials came and spoke with me, "Come, I will show you the sentence given to the great whore who sits over many waters. 2She is the one with whom the kings of teh earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of teh earth have become drunk from the wine of her fornication." 3So he brought me to a deserted place in the spirit, and I saw a woman seated on a scarlet beast. The beast was filled with blasphemous names, and he had seven heads and ten horns. 4And the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls. She had a golden cup in her hand filled with abominations and unclean things related to her fornication. 5And upon her forhead was a name written, "Babylon the Great, the mother of whores and of the earth's abominations. 6And I saw the woman drunk on the blood of the saints and on the blood of the martyrs for Jesus.
I was very amazed when I saw her. 7And the angel asked me, "Why are you amazed? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and the beast with seven heads and ten horns that is carrying her. 8The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise out of the abyss, and he is going to destruction. All the inhabitants of the earth, those whose names are not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will be amazed when they see the beast because he was, and is not, and will come. 9Here is a mind that has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits. And they are seven kings. 10Five have fallen, one is, and another one has not yet come, and whenever he comes, he must remain for a little while. 11And the beast which was, and is not, is also an eighth, but is from the seven, and he is going to destruction. 12And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings, who have not yet received their sovereignty, but they will receive authority as kings for an hour with the beast. 13These all have one mindset, and they give their authority to the beast. 14These will make war with the lamb, but the lamb will conquer them, because he is Lord of Lords and king of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful."
15And he said to me, "The waters on which you saw the whore sitting are peoples, crowds, nationalities and languages. 16And the ten horns which you said and the beast will hate the whore, and they will make her desolate and naked, and they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. 17For God put it in their hearts to accomplish his purpose and to make one purpose and to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God are accomplished. 18And the woman which you saw is the great city which has sovereignty over the kings of the earth.
Chapter 18 1After these things I saw another angel descending from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was lighted up with his glory. 2And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Babylon the Great has fallen, has fallen And has become the habitation of demons And a prison for every unclean spirit And a prison for every unclean bird, And a prison for every unclean and hateful beast. 3Because all the nations drank, Some of the wine of the wrath of her fornication And the kings of the earth committed fornication with her And the merchants of the earth made themselves rich from the strength of their luxury." 4And I heard another voice out of heaven saying, "Come out of her, my people So that you don't become partakers of her sins And of her plagues That you may not receive. 5Because her sins have been stacked up to heaven
And God remembered her unrighteous deeds. 6Pay her back in the way she paid others, And return double to her for her deeds, In the cup in which she mixed (a drink), measure back to her double. 7As she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, Give her torment and weeping in the same way, Because she said in her heart, 'I sit as a queen And I am no widow, And I will never see weeping. 8For this reason her plagues will come in one day, Death and weeping and famine and she will be burned in fire, Because the Lord our God who judges her is strong.
9And the kings of the earth, who committed fornication with her and lived luxuriously with her, will cry and beat their breasts in mourning over her, when they see the smoke of her fiery burning. 10They will stand far awy because of the fear of her torment, saying, Woe! Woe, Oh great city! Babylon the strong city Because in one hour her judgment came.
11And the merchants of the earch cry and weep over her, because nobody buys their cargo any more-- 12cargo of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, every citron tree, every ivory vessel, every vessel made of valuable wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13cinnamon, amomum, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine wheat flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and the bodies and souls of people.
14And the fruit that was your inmost desire Has left you. And everything radiant and bright Has been sold away from you and they will never be found again.
15The merchants of these things, who have enriched themselves from her will stand far awy because they are afraid of her torment, crying and weeping, 16saying, Woe! Woe! Oh Great city! Who was clothed in fine linen and purple and scarlet and decked out in gold and precious stones and pearls.
17Because in one hour her riches were laid waste. And every shipmaster, and those who were in centers of shipping and sailors, and all those whose work is related to the sea stand far away. 18And they cry out when they see the smoke of her fiery burning, saying, "Who is like the great city?" 19And they throw dust on their heads, and they cry out, weeping and mourning, saying, Woe! Woe! Oh great city! In which all those who have ships became rich in the sea from her precious things because in one hour she was laid waste. 20Rejoice over her heaven And the saints and apostles and prophets, Because God has executed his sentence on her.
21And one strong angle lifted up a stone like a large millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, Thus violently is thrown, Babylon the great city And she will never again be found. 22And the sound of harpists and musicians And flautists and trumpeters will never again be heard in you. And every craftsman of every craft Will no longer be found in you, And the sound of the mill Will never again be heard in you. 23And the light of a lamp Will no more shine in you any more, And the voice of the bridegroom and the bride, Will no longer be heard in you. Because your merchants were the great ones of the earth, Because by your sorcery all the nations were deceived. 24And the blood of prophets and saints was found in her And all those who were slain on the earth.
Chapter 19 1After these things I heard something like the loud sound of a huge crowd in heaven saying, Hallelujah! The salvation, the glory, and the power of our God! 2Because your judgments are true and just Because you condemned the great whore Who corrupted the earth with her fornication, And he avenged the blood of his slaves from her hand. 3And they said a second time, Hallelujah! Her smoke rises forever and ever.
4The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell and worshipped God who sat on the throne saying, Amen! Hallelujah!
The Lamb's Supper 5And a voice came out from the throne that said, Praise our God! All his slaves! And those who fear him both unimportant and important.
6And I heard something like the sound of a huge crown and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of loud crashes of thunder saying, Hallelujah! Because the Lord has begun to reign, Our God, the All-Powerful! 7Let us rejoice and be very glad And let us give him glory, because the wedding of the lamb has come And his wife has prepared herself. 8And she was allowed to dress herself In linen bright and pure For the linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
9And he said to me, "Write! Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the lamb." And he said to me, "These words and true words of God." 10And I fell at his feet to worship him, and he said to me, "Look out! Don't do it! I am your fellow-slave, and also of your brothers and sisters, who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit that inspired the prophets."
Rider on the White Horse 11And I saw heaven open, and look--a white horse, and the one who was riding it is called faithful and true, and with righteousness he both judges and makes war. 12And his eyes were like a fiery flame, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name inscribed that nobody knows except he himself. 13And he was dressed in a garment dipped in blood, and his name is called "The Word of God." 14And the heavenly army followed him on white horses, dressed in pure, white, fine linen. 15And There is a sharp, two-edged sword coming out of his mouth, so that he can smite the nations with it, and he will tend them with an iron rod, and he will tread the winepress of the wine of the fury of God the All-Powerful's wrath. 16And he has on his garment and on his thigh a name written, "King of kings and Lord of lords."
The Other Supper 17And I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice to all the birds flying in mid-heaven, "Come, gather yourselves to the great suppor of God, 18so you can eat the flesh of kings, of generals, of strong men, of horses and of their riders, of freemen and slaves, of unimportant people and important ones." 19And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth, and their army gathered to make war with the one who sat on the horse and with his army. 20And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet, who performed miracles before him, by which those who received the mark of the beast were deceived, along with those who worshipped his image. And they were thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur. 21And the rest were killed by the sword that came out of the mouth of the one who sat on the horse, and all the birds were satiated with their flesh.
Chapter 20 1And I saw an angel descending from heaven. He had the key of the abyss and a large chain in his hand. 2And he seized the dragon, that old snake, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. 3And the angel threw him into the abyss, and locked it up, and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations until the thousand years were finished. After these things he must be released for a little while.
4And I saw thrones, and people sat on them, and they were given jurisdiction to judge, and the souls of those who were beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and whoever did not worship the beast or his image and did not receive the mark on their forehead or upon their hand. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. 5The rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no authority, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and they will reign with him for a thousand years.
7And when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison. 8And he will go out to deceive the nations that are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, and he will gather them for war. Their number will be like the sand of the sea. 9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and they surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, and fire came down from heaven and consumed them. 10And the devil, who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur, and the beast and the false prophet, and they will be tormented 24 hours a day forever and ever.
11And I saw a large white throne and the one who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaves fled, and no place was found for them any more. 12And I saw the dead, important and unimportant, standing before the throne. And the books were opened. And anotehr book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to the things written in the books, according to their deeds. 13And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and they were judged each according to their deeds. 14And Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15And if anyone is not found written in the book of life, he will be thron into the lake of fire.
Chapter 21 1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more, 2and I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, descending from heaven from God, prepared as a bride decked out for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Behold, God's tent is with humanity, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them, their God, 4and he will wipe away each tear from their eyes, and death will no longer exist, nor mourning nor crying, nor will there be pain any more, because the first things have passed away."
5And the one who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I am making everything new." And he said, "Write it down! For these words and faithful and true." 6And he said to me, "It's done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. 7"Those who win the victory will inherit these things, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. 8"But as for the cowardly, unfaithful, detestable, murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and to all liars, their part is in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death." 9And one of the seven angels who had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the lamb's wife." 10And he took me in the spirit onto a great and high mountain, and he showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. 11The city had the glory of God. Its light with like a precious stone, like crystal, jasper. 12It had a great and high wall, with 12 gates, and at the gates 12 angels. There are names written on the gates--the names of the 12 tribes of Israel. 13At the east there are three gates, from the north three gates, from the south three gates, and from the west three gates. 14And the city wall has 12 foundations, and on the 12 foundations are the names of the 12 apostles of the lamb.
15And the one who was speaking with me had a golden measuring rod so he could measure the city and its gates and its wall. 16And the city is square, its length is equal to its width. He measured the city with the measuring rod, 12,000 stades--the length and the width and the height of it are equal (or symmetrical). 17And he measure its wall, 144 cubits, the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. 18And the wall is made of Jasper, and the city of pure gold like clear glass. 19The foundations of the wall are each decorated with a precious stone. The first foundation is jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedon, the fourth emerald, 20The fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh hyacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21And the 12 gates are 12 pearls, each of the gates is made of one pearl. And the streets of the city are pure gold, transparent as glass.
22But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the all-powerful is its temple and the Lamb. 23And the city doesn't have need of the sun, neither of the moon to give light in it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its light is the lamb. 24And the nations shall walk by means of its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory into it, 25and its gates shall never be closed by day, for there is no night there. 26And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. 27And nothing impure or that commits abomination or a lie shall enter it, but only those who are inscribed in the lamb's book of life.
Chapter 22 1And he showed me a river of living water, pure as crystal, going out from the throne of God and of the lamb. 2In the middle of its street and on either side of the river there was a tree of live, bearing 12 types of fruit, giving its fruit each month, and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3And there will be nothing cursed there. And teh throne of God and of the lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him 4and they will see his face, and his name will be upon their foreheads. 5And there will not be any night there, and they don't need light of a lamp or of the sun, because the Lord God shines upon them, and they will rule forever and ever.
6And he said to me, "These words can be relied upon and are genuine, and the Lord God from whom the spirits of the prophets come sent his angel to show his slaves what must happen quickly. 7Look! I am coming quickly! Blessed are those who preserve the words of the prophecy of this book."
8And I, John, am the one who is hearing and seeing these things. And when I heard and I saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who was showing me these things. 9But he said to me, "Look! Don't do it! I am your fellow-slave, and the fellow-slave of your brothers the prophets and of those who preserve the words of this book. Worship God!" 10And he said to me, "Don't seal the words of the prophecy contained in this book, because the time is near. 11Let the one who acts unjustly remain unjust, and the one who is stained continue to be stained, and let the one who is righteous continue being righteous, and the one who is holy will continue to be holy.
12Look, I'm coming quickly and my reward is with me, to give to each one as his work is. 13I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. 14Blessed are those who wash their robes so that they might have authority over the tree of life and might go in through the gates into the city.
15Outside are dogs and sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and does something false.
16I, Jesus, sent my angel to testify these things to you about the churches. I am the root and the seed of David, the bright morning star. 17And the spirit and the bride say, "Come," and let the one who hears say, "Come," and let the one who is thirsty come. Let whoever wants receive the water of life freely. 18I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book, "If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the pagues which are written in this book, 19and if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, and from those written in this book." 20The one who testifies these things says, "Yes, I'm coming quickly." Amen! Come quickly, Jesus. 21May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with all of you.
