1 John 2

1My children, I am writing these things to you so that you might not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who is with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous one. 2And he is the means by which forgiveness of our sins is made possible, and not for ours ownly, but for the sins of the whole world. 3In this way we know that the have known him, if we keep his commandments. 4The one who says, "I know him," and does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5But whoever keeps his message, truly that is one in whom the love of God has been perfected. In this way we know that we are in him. 6The one who claims to remain in him ought to walk just as that one [Jesus] walked.

7Loved ones, I'm not writing a new command to you, but an old one that you ahve had from the beginning. The old command is the message which you heard. 8Again, I am writing a new command to you, which is true in him and in you, that the darkness is fleeing and the light is already shining. 9The one who claims to be in the light, and hates his brother, is really still in darkness. 10The one who loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of sumbling in him. 11But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness, and he walks around in the darkness, and he doesn't know where he is going, because the darkness has made him blind.

12I write to you, children,
because your sins are forgiven because of his name.
13I write to you, parents,
because you have know the one who is from the beginning,
I write to you, young men,
because you have overcome the evil one.
14I wrote to you, children,
because you have known the Father.
I wrote to you, parents,
because you have known the one who is from the beginning.
I wrote to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and God's message remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

15Don't love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of hte Father is not in him. 16Because everything in the world, the craving of the flesh and the craving o fthe eyes and the arrogance of live, is not from the Father, but it is of the world. 17And the world is passing away, and its craving, but the one who does God's will remains forever.

18Children, it's the last hour, and just as you heard that an antichrist is coming, now many antichrists have come. On that basis you know that it is the last hour. 19They went out from among us, but they are not of us. For if they were of us, they would have stayed with us. But they went out to make it clear that the are not all of us. 20And you have the anointing from the holy one, and you know all things. 21I didn't write to you because you don't know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no liar is from the truth. 22Who is the real liar if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23Everyone who denies the Son doesn't have the Father either. The one who confesses the Son, also has the Father. 24But as for you, remain in that which you heard from the beginning. If you remain in that which you heard from the beginning, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25And this is the promise that he made to us: Eternal life!

26I write these things to you about those who are deceiving you. 27And the anointing that you received from him remains in you, and you don'tneed anyone to teach you, but his anointing teaches you about all things, and it is true and it does not lie, and just as he taught you, remain in him.

28And now, children, remain in him, so that if he is revealed, we can have boldness and not be ashamed of him at his appearing.

29If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who behaves righteously has been born of him.
