Ephesians 4 1Because of this I, the one bound in Christ, strongly encourage you to conduct yourselves in a way that is worthy of the calling by which you were called, 2with all humility and courtesy, with patience putting up with one another in love, 3being zealous to preserve the unity of the spirit in the bond [binding together with] of peace. 4One body and one Spirit just as also you were called in one hope that comes from your calling. 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6one God afather of all, who is over everything and through everything and in everything. 7And to each one of us he has given grace [articular, "grace in general"] according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8For this reason it says:
"Having ascended into the heights, he took captivity captive,
He gave gifts to people."
9Now what can "he ascended" mean except that he descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10The one who descended is the same one who ascended above all the heavens, so that he might fulfill all things. 11And he gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some shepherds (pastors) and teachers, 12for the purpose of equipping the saints for the work of service, which will result in building the body of Christ, 13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the complete experiential knowledge of the Son of God, becoming a perfect person [the man Jesus],
14So that we might no longer beinfants, tossed about and blown around by every wind of teaching in the trickiness of people, with the the cunning methods of deceit,
15but being totally genuine in love, let us grow into him who is all things, the one who is the Head, Christ. 16From him the whole body, arranged correctly and joined together with every ligament that serves for support, according to the that is measured out to each one, accomplishes its own growth and building through love.
