Matthew 16

21From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem, suffer many things from the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed and then rise on the third day. 22And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, "May this not happen to you!" 23But Jesus turned to Peter and said, "Go behind me Satan. You are a stumbling block for me, because you do not think God's thoughts, but human thoughts." 24Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone wants to follow me, let him deny himself, pick up his cross and follow me. 25For if anyone wants to save his life, he must lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26Will it benefit a person if he gains the whole world, but loses his life? Or what will a person give in exchange for his life? 27For the son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father, with his angels, and at that time he will reward each one according to his behavior. 28I tell you truly, that there are those standing here who will not taste death until they see the son of man coming in his kingdom."
