Psalms 116

¹I love [the Lord]
because he hears the voice of my supplications, ²because he has stretched out his ear to me,
so throughout my days I will call [the Lord]. ³The bands of death encompassed me,
the anguish of Sheol found me,
I kept finding trouble and sorrow. ⁴Then in the name of YHWH I would cry out,
"I beseech you, Oh YHWH, save my soul." ⁵YHWH is gracious and righteous,
Our God is merciful. ⁶YHWH is the keeper of the simple,
When I had been brought low, he saved me. ⁷Return, my soul, to your rest,
Because YHWH has dealt with you. ⁸Because he rescued my soul from death,
my eyes from tear(s).
my feet from stumbling. ⁹I will walk before YHWH in the lands of the living.
