Window Shopping on Amazon: HP Spectre x360
I’ve heard a read a bit about this, and decided to look at it a bit more. You’ll the the Amazon.com link to the left.
The difference in price/performance between laptops, tablets, and desktops continues to shrink. You can get excellent performance in a laptop. What I’m telling my clients these days is to give more consideration to the human elements of the purchase. Do you like the screen size? Is the keyboard easy to use? How transportable is the computer and does that matter to you?
Unless you have advanced needs in graphics, most of the laptops on the market will fulfill your needs. (You do need to check the operating system. Chromebooks run different apps than Windows 10 systems, though more and more basic apps, such as word process and spreadsheets, are available to use online with any browser. I can head to my Linux (Ubuntu 16.04) machine in my office and still edit a Word document using the online service.
The key to the Spectre, as with many of the most recent machines, is that it’s convertible. It can be used as either a laptop or a tablet. One of the things that caused numerous complaints about Windows 8, 8.1, and now 10 is the redesigned interface. That interface, however, was built with this sort of a machine in mind.
Check this one out. If you’re willing to pay a bit for some excitement in your next laptop, this may be it. I must confess, however, that I’d find it hard to buy this online. I’d want to get my hands on it. And for that you need to drop by a brick and mortar store.
