I have just downloaded OpenWatcom C/C++ to try. Since I rarely use C++ professionally any more, but still like to tinker, I want to see if there is a good open source option for me to play with. For maintenance of existing projects, of course, I will stick with my Borland C++ Builder 6.
I’ll post notes here as I play with OpenWatcom and decide whether to keep on using it.
This is an interesting article. I wonder if he’s right. I dislike Microsoft quite a lot, and generally I see this as one more reason. It would be nice, of course, if they became an ally on the patent issue as Shuttleworth suggests. In software patents have definitely become the enemy of innovation.
